Your Go-To Guide for All Your Inquiries. This section is designed to answer the most common questions clients have about our tutoring services. Whether you’re curious about lesson arrangements, payment procedures, or how to provide feedback, you’ll find detailed information here.
Submit the student’s level, subjects, schedule, location, preferred lesson format and budget through the tutor request form or WhatsApp +65 9090 9774.
Tuition2u checks available profiles against those requirements. Matching time varies with subject, location, schedule, budget and tutor availability; no fixed response time or outcome is guaranteed.
To simplify, we categorize our tutors into three main groups:
Part-Time Tutors: These are private tutors who teach part-time, often students such as A-level graduates, Diploma students/graduates, or undergraduates. This category also includes part-time tutors who are University graduates or working professionals offering tuition on a part-time basis.
Full-Time Tutors: These tutors engage in teaching as a profession, potentially being university graduates. They usually possess more teaching experience than part-time tutors, tutoring both one-on-one and in tuition centers.
School Teachers: These are current or former school teachers from MOE or private and international schools, typically the most experienced and qualified private tutors, commanding higher tuition rates.
After receiving a request, Tuition2u reviews available tutor profiles against the student’s level, subjects, location, lesson format, schedule and budget. Families can review the supplied profile information before deciding whether to proceed. Availability varies, and a specific tutor or result is not guaranteed.
You may share the tutor’s name or profile details through WhatsApp at +65 9090 9774. Tuition2u will check whether that tutor is registered and currently available. If not, the matching team may provide other available profiles that align with the stated requirements.
Review each tutor profile’s name, qualifications, relevant teaching experience, proposed rate and availability. Ask for clarification or supporting information where a credential affects your decision. Families decide whether to proceed and should monitor fit and progress after lessons begin. Tuition2u does not guarantee tutor availability or academic outcomes.
Lessons are held at a pre-determined location based on your preference, typically your home. If your home is not convenient, you can request an alternative location like the tutor’s home or a public space. The location should be confirmed before lesson confirmation, and any address changes afterward require approval from both parties.
Private tutoring avoids a one-size-fits-all approach. Each tutor has a unique methodology, personality, and teaching style. During the prospecting phase, our coordinators match tutors based on your child’s needs. The first lesson is a ‘getting to know’ phase, and subsequent lessons align with the student’s learning or syllabus. There are no fixed lesson plans, allowing both clients and tutors to discuss and conduct lessons in a way that benefits the student.
Yes, you can postpone lessons with at least four hours’ notice for the first scheduled lesson or at least two hours’ notice for later lessons, except for special cases like medical emergencies. Postponements for the first lesson must be communicated to Tuition2u via WhatsApp or call at +65 9090 9774. Failure to provide the applicable notice may incur a compensation fee of 50% of one lesson’s fee for the tutor.
Yes. After the first lesson, the client may request a replacement tutor or end the arrangement. Notify Tuition2u and the tutor at least two hours before the next scheduled lesson to avoid a late-cancellation charge. With less than two hours’ notice, the client may be responsible for 50% of the affected lesson. Payment remains due for lessons already conducted.
Tutors are discouraged from frequent postponements, but some flexibility is encouraged due to unforeseen circumstances. If you experience issues, communicate with your tutor. If difficulties persist, provide feedback to Tuition2u for a possible tutor replacement.
Tutors are expected to commit to at least 4 weeks of tuition. If they terminate without a valid reason before completing 4 weeks, they won’t receive tuition fees. Tuition fees (50%, plus any applicable taxes) are payable directly to the agency. While Tuition2u can’t force tutors to commit longer, responsible behavior is encouraged.
You can start with one subject and add more later or modify lesson frequency. For any changes, make requests through the agency to keep the tutor accountable. Inform coordinators of any added lessons or changes to schedules, subjects, or clients promptly.
Tuition2u does not set tuition rates. Each tutor determines their own prices based on factors such as qualifications, experience, student level, location, and timing. While we do not dictate rates, our coordinators ensure fair pricing within market rates and negotiate when necessary. Check the latest tuition rates on our platform.
Our services are free for parents and students. Payment is required only for conducted lessons. A portion of the total lesson fees, usually within the first four weeks, serves as Tuition2u’s agency commission. This is deducted directly from the tutor’s fees, with no additional cost to you. To facilitate this, transfer the allocated agency commission (usually 50% of the 1st month fees) directly to Tuition2u. Our Tuition Coordinators will provide full payment details upon lesson confirmation.
The agency commission charged to the tutor is equivalent to 2 weeks of active lessons. Payment is made directly to Tuition2u after a certain number of lessons, following which you pay the tutor directly for subsequent lessons. We offer various payment methods, including credit/debit card, online transfer, cheque, and cash. There are no additional or hidden fees; paying Tuition2u facilitates the agency commission collection. Our Coordinators will provide payment details during your tutor request.
Example:
Client Alex hires Tutor for $60/lesson at 1 lesson per week. The agency commission is $120 (equivalent to 2 lessons). After Tutor conducts two lessons, James transfers $120 to Tuition2u. From the 3rd lesson onwards, she pays Tutor directly. The arrangement is to pay every 4 lessons via bank transfer.
No advance payments are required. All payments are made only after the requisite lessons have been conducted.
There are no contracts or obligations until you agree to engage our tutors. Once an assignment is confirmed, guidelines are in place to ensure a smooth and rewarding experience for both the student and tutor.
For general feedback, email info@hometuition.com.sg. For private feedback about the agency service, email. We value accurate feedback to enhance our service and system.
Tell us the student’s level, subjects, preferred schedule, lesson format and postal code. Tuition2u will review available tutor profiles against those requirements. Parents can compare the proposed tutor’s relevant qualifications, experience, availability and rate before deciding whether to proceed.
